Integrity Advocate Privacy Statement

Last modified: July 10, 2025

At Integrity Advocate we know that protecting the privacy of the people who use our services is essential to our success. We want you to know that when you engage with Integrity Advocate you are safe, and your personal information is protected in accordance with the highest standards. Before you begin a proctoring session, we ask for your consent to collect your personal information. If you don’t say yes, we don’t proceed. It’s as simple as that.

What kind of information do we collect?

We provide identity verification, participation monitoring and proctoring services. This means we need to assure your Administrators that you are who you say you are and that you’re acting with academic integrity. To do that, we work with your Institution to collect only the information they request. We may ask you to show your ID so we can compare the face on your ID with the face seen by your webcam. We will use your webcam to record you as you participate in your proctoring session.

Integrity Advocate may also ask you to share your screen with us for the duration of your session if your Administrator has asked for that.

We also collect some technical information automatically relating to your computer, browser, and network settings.

We don’t ask you to download anything, so there are never any tracking devices on your computer.

Does Integrity Advocate sell my information?

Absolutely not. We are in the business of proctoring, not selling data or using it to advertise to you. We will never sell your information to a third party.

We do share your name, email and selfie taken during the proctoring session with your teachers and course providers just to verify that it’s you, but we only share the audio and video with them if there is a suspected violation and they need to follow-up. And we never share your information with any unrelated third parties.

What do you do with the information you collect?

We store all the information we collect on secure servers in Canada. We only keep your information as long as is necessary to provide the proctoring service. Video, audio and photos are typically only kept for 24 hours but sometimes can be kept up to three years if your Institution requests. Your name, email and computer browsing info is kept for a maximum of 730 days. We are constantly looking at these timeframes to make sure they are as short as possible while still allowing us to provide a quality service for your teachers and course providers. When your personal information is with us, we keep it very secure by using encryption and firewalls. After that point, we delete everything.

To ensure you have a clear picture of what we do, this is a list of the measures we take to ensure your privacy:

  • Integrity Advocate is hosted in the cloud through Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL certificates from AWS Certificate Manager. Our platform implements SSL encryption for all data transmission, including inbound API requests, web server communications, and outbound customer data transfers. We follow current SSL/TLS protocols and maintain compliance through regular vulnerability assessments.
  • Data at rest is encrypted using industry standards with KMS keys.
  • Integrity Advocate is not the owner of the data but holds the data for your teachers or course providers. Our employees do not have access to the data unless their job requires it (e.g. support or reviewers).
  • Integrity Advocate does not ask you to set up an account or password. We use your access to the LMS to give you access to your exam or course material during the proctoring session.

What if I have questions or concerns?

If you have questions or if you’d like to get access to your data, have it modified or deleted, please contact your school or our Data Protection Officer at privacy@integrityadvocate.com. We will work with your teachers/course providers to respond to any requests.
